In my personal experience there are simply more gotchas/undefined "features" in C/++ than in rust. I recall entire projects where it was literally just replacing calls with the safed calls and bug fixing as we went. It's been a few years since I've done any purist work in ++ but coding practice whenever i was engaged was to "dump" the default libraries and solely use MS's "safe" libs before even beginning. In my opinion, it's harder to fuckup via accidental oversight in rust with default libraries and defaults which makes it a bit more beginner friendly.
